Podee Baby Feeding System - Let Baby Feed Himself!

I think this is going to be a great impulse purchase:

The Podee Baby Feeding System looks like a nipple attached to a flexible straw, allowing baby to feed himself by manipulating just the nipple, rather than holding onto the entire bottle. Furthermore, the setup allows baby to feed while upright, the position preferred by pediatricians (apparently this helps to prevent ear infections).

The Podee Baby Feeding System is available for under $10 at multiple online retailers (including, where we found it for $8.48, with additional volume discounts available).

Update! Zubbles Colored Bubbles

I first posted about Zubbles - the world's first colored bubbles - back in November, and now it appears that we'll only be waiting another year before we can all get our hands on them...

According to the manufacturer, Zubbles are set to be released in Spring of 2007:

From the website:
"As of December 21st, 2005, we have entered into a global license agreement with Spin Master Ltd. for Zubbles Colored Bubbles. If you'd like to find out more information about Zubbles availability, please contact Spin Master via e-mail at or by telephone at 1 (800) 622-8339."

I'm looking forward to it!!

Baby Birkenstocks?

Is your little one still too tiny for shoes? If you have a girl, you're lucky - there's just nothing more adorable than Trumpette Mary Janes socks, but if you have a boy (or you're just not the frilly girly type), you still have options.

That's right, now you can get your little granola baby some sock-and-sandal baby booties. Ah, but the fun does not stop there - there's a whole variety of baby socks-as-shoes. Check these out:

Saddle Shoes baby booties
Cowboy Boots baby booties (also available in pink/white for your little cowgirl)
Black Boots baby booties
Figure Skates baby booties
High Top baby booties
Mary Jane baby booties (though I still prefer the Trumpettes)

Plan ahead - all of these hand-crocheted booties are made to order, the turn-around time may be as long as three weeks. The seller also asks you to bear in mind that "these are strictly 'pre-walking' booties - while they're nothing short of adorable, they will send a toddling toddler sailing across your wood floors - so please be mindful! "

All of the booties listed above are available at Mahar DryGoods and range in price from $24 to $28.

Turn Your Head Pirolette

Does your baby have the cutest little nose that you've ever seen? Now you can immortalize your little one's profile in a wood Pirolette from Turn Your Head.

From the company's website:

"At Turn Your Head, we fill the space between two opposing profiles of your face. By spinning that space into a three dimensional 'visage' that follows the outlined silhouettes of your two profiles, we create the 'Pirolette'.

Place the 'Pirolette' to your face and it will match your profile. Locate it near a wall and the shadow of the 'Pirolette' will be your silhouette.

Your profile captured forever in an object of art. An optical illusion of shadow and light, each one unique because it’s you!

The 'Pirolette' is hand crafted from American Black Walnut, Cherry or Maple and is hand polished to a natural luster."

This is an incredibly unique baby gift and the ultimate way to memorialize your little one's infancy.

Forget bronzed baby shoes. This is much cooler.

Turn Your Head currently offers the Pirolette on sale for $149.95 (regularly $249.95). The promotion is running until March 30th.

WhyCry Baby Crying Analyzer

I've nursed you, I've burped you, I've changed you, I've rocked you, I've cuddled you, I've entertained you with toys and faces ... WHY WON'T YOU STOP CRYING?

Ah, the daily refrain.

If I had lots of money (an extra $150 or so just waiting for a rainy day -- or, as the case may be, a whiny day), I could buy myself the solution to this problem.

It's called the Why Cry Baby Crying Analyzer, an electronic monitor that claims to be able to accurately identify why a baby is crying approximately 87% of the time. That success rate skyrockets to 98% when used in conjunction with the included "symptoms chart." According to the manufacturer:

"This sound sensitive device is programmed to recognize different pitches and then digitally analyze and transmit the baby’s cry into one of five simple expressions - hungry, bored, annoyed, sleepy or stressed."

Sounds great, but I'm skeptical. Furthermore, I'm reminded of the Bowlingual, a disturbingly similar electronic device that analyzes barks, whines, and growls to identify canine emotions -- and for which, I'm embarrassed to admit, I paid good money (and subsequently sold on Ebay for about $15). Then again, I can't really be held responsible ... it was featured on Oprah and was named one of the "Best Inventions of 2002" by Time Magazine. But did it work? Nope, not at all.

After a bad Bowlingual experience, I think I'll hold off on the WhyCry for now -- tempted though I am.

The WhyCry retails at $149.95 and is available at for $134.95. - Blog Directory
